Hello Hurricanes Families,

I hope everyone had a great weekend.

The Hurricanes who competed at the FAST / CUDA / EVER Tri meet this weekend did fantastic job opening up our long course season by swimming best times in 89% of our races! That is a huge number for our very first time in a long course pool this season!

I'm always reminding swimmers that daily progress is hard to see in our sport. It rarely feels like you are getting better in the moment, so you have to put in the work with faith in the process. As you zoom out to a bigger span of time, the progress becomes more and more evident. In this case, our 8 months since touching long course forces a wider view.  As a team we have clearly become better athletes since the last time we swim in a long course pool in July. I am excited about how far we have come and highly encouraged about where we are headed this summer!

We have a lot of announcements for a busy week and month ahead. Please read on to get the details below.

As a reminder, Cat 1-3 practice is cancelled for the photo shoot. Surge, Cat 4, and Cat 5 will practice from 5:30 - 7:00.

Photo Schedule

• Individual photos will start at 4:00pm on Monday, April 10th at Wulf. Please arrive by 4:45 if you only plan to be in group photos.

  • Individual shots of each athlete as they arrive

  • All-Club Shot

  • Category Shots

  • Sectional Team Shot

Uniforms

• Please bring green t-shirt plus any other Hurricanes gear you may have.

• Parkas, suits, caps, goggles, all may be used as props.

• Green T-shirts will be available for sale and for free for any new swimmers who have not yet recieved a shirt.

Ordering Photos

• Prints, digitals, buttons and magnets are available to purchase via the ordering link above.

• Orders received by 5pm Tuesday, April 11th will be delivered to the club. Orders received after this time will be mailed to the address provided and will incur standard shipping fees.

• Packages include an 8x10" print of the 'Category' pose.

• The 'All-Club' pose is available as a 10x20" print.

• To order an 8x10" 'Category' pose print select 'Team Pose'.

• Category and All-Club poses are available as prints only. (Sorry, no digitals.)

• Solo poses are available in print and digital formats.

Basecamp Starts on Sunday, April 23rd

We don't have a signup deadline, but we ask you to get signed up asap so we have a good idea of who to expect. Sign-up is available through our calendar here. As a reminder, we'll have sessions on 3 consecutive Sundays, April 23rd, April 30th, and May 7th (pleae note that the listed price includes all three sessions). Each session will be formated as follows:

Since this is our only opportunity to train long course this season, we highly encourage everyone to participate!

• Category 2-3 ($50.00 registration)

  • Swim at Carmody Pool: 6:30am - 8:00am

• Category 4-5, Surge ($150.00 registration)

  • Swim at Carmody Pool: 6:00am - 8:00am

  • Carpool to Conifer Crossfit: 8:00am - 8:45am

  • Refuel / Classroom time: 8:45am - 9:30am

  • Dryland Workout: 9:30am - 11:00am

It has been noted that the sizes available to order are listed differently that the sizes of the fins available to try on at the pool. I have spoken with the vendor about this, but for a long story of reasons it is not going to be updated. You can translate our fins to the web order like this:

• Fins on deck to try on = Website Option

• 4.5-5.5 = 4-4.5

• 6-7 = 6.5-7.5

• 7.5-9 = 8-9

• 9.5-10.5 = 9.5-10.5

• 11-12 = 11-11.5

• 12.5-13.5 = 12.5-13
