Meet Schedule Changes and a few other items

Jordan Kuper
Looking forward to seeing you all at the swim-a-thon this Saturday at Wulf!  Please revisit the most recent email sent from the board with details for arrival time and agenda for the big event!
There are a couple of additional scheduling items that we have for you below:

Upcoming Practice Schedule Changes:

No practice this Saturday, May 4th- swim-a-thon in the afternoon instead!
No practice Saturday, May 25 or Monday, May 27 for the Memorial Day weekend.

**Parent Meeting Wednesday May 8th at 6:00pm at the Wulf Pavilion

Small Change to the Summer Practice Schedule:
I was notified two days ago that EPRD is going to run their evening lessons this summer on Tuesdays instead of Thursdays.  To make accommodations for this in our summer schedule, we are simply going to flip our Tuesday and Thursday practice schedule times.  We will update the schedule on the website to reflect this change within 24 hours.
The tentative idea for the Fall is that we will revert back to the original schedule with the later start on Thursdays for most groups.  Confirmation of this will be communicated thoroughly a little closer to the end of summer!

Summer Swim Meet Schedule Changes:

As mentioned in an email I sent last week, there have been some changes made to the meet schedule for the summer.

First off, we are taking the CSI Invite off of the calendar and replacing it with the Falfins Long Course Open at the Air Force Academy held the following weekend.

The Falfins Long Course Open is going to be a mid-season Team Championship meet.  It will be prelim / final for all 11&Over swimmers, and a timed final meet for all 10&Under swimmers.  This means that all swimmers 11&Over will swim their prelim events in the morning, and then the Top 16 in MOST events will return for Finals in the afternoon/evening Finals sessions.  10&Under swimmers will swim their events once at the Finals sessions in the afternoon/evening sessions.

The meet will be held the weekend of June 21-23.  It will be a full day on Friday, June 21, not just an evening meet like on a normal, school year weekend meet.  We will send out an all inclusive email with these details and more whenever we set the entry deadline towards the end of May.  All Hurricanes are invited to attend.

We plan to get a block of hotel rooms so that we can gather the swimmers together as much as possible during and after the meet each day.  Additionally, we are going to organize a team dinner Saturday night that will be catered in the lobby of the team hotel.  All swimmers will be invited to join in this dinner option, regardless of a hotel stay.

Secondly, the TOPS Summer Sizzler was on the calendar for Saturday, June 22 until recently.  That meet date was incorrect.  It has now changed to Saturday, July 13th.  This is a one day, Long Course meet at DU that will serve as the final non-championship meet of the season.  So if your swimmer is not qualified for Senior or Age Group State, you should consider the TOPS Summer Sizzler as the last meet your swimmer can attend this summer season.

Lastly, the Greeley Invite is the next meet on our schedule, held on June 1-2.  I have posted the first draft of the meet information document on the website for you to review if interested in attending.  There might be some small changes here or there, but nothing too major!  We recognize that this meet coupled with the Air Force Academy meet three weeks later puts some commitment into traveling for meets in the month of June.  The timelines of the Greeley Invite (and the format in which it is run) should very easily negate a "need" for a hotel over this weekend.  If the travel commitment bears too much hardship on any family, please know that there is no requirement whatsoever on attending either meet, especially in its entirety.  I get asked all the time if attending one day versus two is okay to do and the answer is always YES!   So please know that whatever decision you make as a family will be fully supported by the Hurricanes staff.

If you have questions about either meet, please feel free to reach out.
