Mile High Championships and Practice Schedule Updates

Brian Pursley

Hello Hurricanes Families,

The Mile High Championships begin this evening for some of the Hurricanes, and Saturday for many more. I want to give a big shout out to the entire team for such an awesome job getting out to swim this weekend!

  • We have 75 athletes participating... What an opportunity for our small team to bring a formidable presence to the pool deck! Get ready to bring your energy. I can't wait to see our team spirit and enthusiasm on display in full force. That is exactly the atmosphere that leads to the most fun and the fastest swimming!
  • We have a lot of first time swimmers this weekend. Logistically, the most important thing to remember is to stay close to the team area and to check in with the coaches before and after every event. As long as we know where you are we can help you keep track of what is going on.
  • We also have a lot of relays this weekend. We don't swim too many relays, so you may be caught off guard when you realize they they can be chaotic! As long as each swimmer knows where they are supposed to be, the chaos is manageable. As Coach Jordan already emphasized, please be on time for warm-up and please stay close to the team and engaged during and after warm-up. It is important that you know where you belong, and if you stay close and pay attention we'll help you figure that out!

Practice Schedule Update

Because our participation is so high this weekend, we've cancelled Monday's practices for the entire team (sectional swimmers will have an alternate plan). Please remember that there is also no practice tonight or tomorrow morning.

Thanks to everyone and Go Hurricanes!

Coach Brian
