Long Course Season Begins

Our first Long Course Meet is TOPS at DU 4/24-4/26 (FRI - SUN).

The LC season runs through the end of July/beginning of August.  If you wish to swim with Hurricanes through the summer you will be asked to register again in May for June and July. If you are not swimming through the summer you may participate in the upcoming LC Meet (as long as the coaches fell you are ready for a long course meet) and practice with the team through the end of May.

If you are planning on participating in a summer swim team please note that some summer team rules prohibit you from also participating with a year round team. Check with the summer swim program if you are trying to do both.

Number of years on the team: 9
Best stroke & best event: Freestyle Ė 100 FR
How did you get started swimming competitively?
Swim lessons got too easy for me.
Greatest swimming achievement: Being able to say that all my hard work has paid off as I head to swim D1 at UNCW
Best age group memory: Going to FL as an 11 year old with all of the high school kids that I looked up to.
What I learned as an age grouper and advice to pass on: I learned how to be disciplined & manage my time. I would tell
the age groupers to give it their all at every practice & every meet. You commit a lot of time to this sport, donít waste it.
Best part of being a senior swimmer: Being able to lead the younger kids as best I can. I like being able to pass on what Iíve learned through swimming.
Best memory being a senior swimmer: Helping to & leading the younger swimmers & watching them achieve their goals.
Best memory as a senior swimmer: Sassing Jeff as best I can.
Somebodyís got to keep him on his toes.
Future goals /seasonal or longer: Make junior cuts at this upcoming sectionals & then eventually NCAAs in college.
What do you do besides swim? I also run track. Thatís all I really got time for.

BAILEY SMITH
School & Grade Level: Evergreen HS - 12th
Number of years on the team:  6
Best stroke & best event: Backstroke, 200BK
How did you get started swimming competitively?  I loved swim lesson so my mom signed me up for swim team.
Greatest swimming achievement: Being able to compete at travel meets with my team and committing to swim for NCAA Div. 1 team.
Best age group memory: Getting my 1st sectional cut at senior zones in Clovis.
What I learned as an age grouper and advice to pass on: The more you come to practice & the harder you work at practice, the faster you become. How hard you work correlates directly to your times.
Best part of being a senior swimmer: Helping out & leading the younger swimmers & watching them achieve their goals.
Future Goals/seasonal or longer: Make NCAA cuts & see the rest of my Jeffco teammates at NCAAs senior year.
What do you do besides swim? I participate in Interact Club & DECA & I hope to run track this year.
