Welcome New Assistant Coach Russell Payne

Russ is the lead coach of Category 1 and will assist with the other four categories.

Coach Russ comes to the Hurricanes from California where he coached multiple age groups for the Santa Clara Swim Club. Before that, he coached at SwimMAC Carolina in Charlotte, NC. He has been involved in USA Swimming governance, being most recently named to the Championship Evaluation Committee. Russ also was part of Team USA's coaching staff at the Open Water World Cup meet in Viedma, Argentina.

As a swimmer, Russ is a product of Colorado's Front Range, swimming for the North Jeffco Swim Team through high school, and he still holds a couple Jeffco Hurricanes team records from that time. He attended and swam for the University of Minnesota where he earned 2 Big Ten team titles and a BS in Strategic Management. After college, he spent a year in Spain swimming and teaching English before coming back to Charlotte, NC to train at the US Olympic Center of Excellence at SwimMAC Carolina. He then went to Santa Clara, CA to train with the Santa Clara Swim Club. Over the years, he has competed at multiple National and International meets, including the 2008 and 2012 US Olympic Trials.

Season Finale Meet - Sunday, March 17th    We will be having another meet for all  team members in just a few weeks. 10 & Unders will be early morning Session 1 and everyone else late morning start, Session 2 (exact times TBA). Despite the name, this isn't the last meet before summer! 

Save the Date: Sunday, May 5th
On Sunday, May 5th we will be hosting our final home meet of the short course season. On that same afternoon, we will hold the annual team bowling party and awards ceremony from 3-6pm. Be sure to mark your calendars - you won't want to miss this fun event.

Spring Break is Coming!
The team will be on break from Saturday, March 23 through Monday, April 1st following the Jefferson County school calendar. April 2nd is first day back.

The Silver State Meet begins at 8:30AM with : Jack Carver, Morgan Cook, Sheila Crane, Jack DeBloois, Nick Delany, Nino Delany, Scout Easton, Joshua Gauvain, Remi Gucker, CJ Hansen, Faith Hellard, Maggie Hellard, Jessie Klitzke, Braden Lewis, Jacob Ley, Christian Markey, Piper Mayo, Maggie McDonald, Coop O’Hearn, Bryce Pearson, Rachel Rowland, Behrnt Schultz, Tristin Van den Bulk and Anastasia Vincent.

The Senior State Meet begins Friday at 5:30 and 2:30 on Saturday & Sunday with: Jenn Belz, Jordyn Butler, Noah Christensen, Isaac Hellard, Ben Holland,  Kam Holland, Meghan Lahr, Lexie Malazdrewicz, Anna McDonald, Riley Moore, Lindsay Morrow, Josie Pearson, Bailey Smith, Jessie Urban.
