Summer Practice Schedule Announcement

Jordan Kuper

Hello Hurricane Families-

Several important items to send your way, please review each section below!

Summer practice schedule and group placements

After much work, we have finally pieced together our summer schedule for all groups.  This schedule will start on Tuesday, May 28th (day after Memorial Day).  The whole schedule has been changed around with incoming new primary coaches of several groups.  The PDF of the schedule is attached to this email, and can also be found on our website under the Athletes tab or by clicking HERE

The other attachment to this email is the Group Placement PDF so that you can see what group your swimmer is in for the summer season.  There will be some changes made heading into the Fall season, but the group placements in the document are particularly for the summer season.  I am happy to house any questions about your swimmer's group placement that you might have.

Under this new schedule, the primary coaching assignments will be the following:

Cat 1: Jeff Cook

Cat 2: Jordan Kuper

Cat 3: Nate Rothman

Senior 1: Jordan Kuper

Senior 2: Jordan Kuper

Full and complete bios from all coaches will be out soon, we just wanted to attach the primary coach's name to their groups with the release of all this new information.

The team will continue to operate on the current schedule until Memorial Day weekend.

Our Fall schedule will pretty much be identical to the summer schedule through November 17th when the high school girls season starts up.  When this happens, we will have to make some changes because a portion of our evening lane space gets allocated to the High School team.  Just wanted to give you as much notice about the practice schedule as possible.

Swim-A-Thon:

May 4th is going to be such a fun day for our team!  We really hope everyone can make it to the event.  There will be a ceremonial event that starts at 2:00pm, and then the water time will be from 2:30-4:30pm, followed by a team bar-b-que up at the pavillion outside of the rec center!  Keep reaching out to the community for sponsorships so that we can reach our goal and celebrate as a team!

Echo Food Drive from Lisa Morrow:

Lisa Morrow has a food donation basket underneath of the chalkboard in the shallow end of Wulf pool.  Every year for her birthday, she takes a food donation up to the Echo Food Drive.  She is the Masters and High School swim coach, and she has more years involved with the Hurricanes than anyone in the Evergreen community!  We noticed the collection basket Tuesday at practice and thought it would be amazing if we could flood the collection basket by the end of the week!  Feel free to bring in whatever you can and drop it off under the chalkboard.  We have been told that the Echo Food Drive is running particularly low this year, so any form of help from the Hurricanes can go a long way.

Swim Meet Schedule Changes:

Be on the look out for a few changes to our swim meet schedule.  The first one is the removal of the Hilltopper Invite the weekend of May 18-19.  This meet sort of accidentally found its way onto our event page.  It was a proposal as an alternative to our usual Jeffco Invites in May and June that will not be happening due to their old pool being torn down.  The Hilltopper Invite is a closed meet that I had inquired about a few months ago, but with DU graduation happening the same weekend, they cannot accept any new teams to the meet.  So if you had registered or were planning on registering for this meet, please take note that it is removed from the schedule effective immediately.

There are also some potential changes to the June meets as well, but a little more conversation needs to happen internally before those changes are finalized.  Stay tuned for an update about that before we hit May 1.
