The Evergreen Swim Team strives to develop the maximum potential of our athletes with a program that emphasizes discipline, personal growth, and excellence in technique. Our coaching staff encourages our swimmers to achieve their best performance through personal dedication, hard work, and commitment to their teammates. Through their experience with the Evergreen Swim Team, we envision that swimmers will become strong athletes while developing valuable life skills such as integrity, mental toughness, time management, a strong work ethic, and self confidence.
Head Coach Jeff Armstrong
Coach Jeff was voted 2010 CSI Coach of the year for 14 and under age group by his fellow coaches. He has been in Evergreen since August 2007. Prior to coming to Colorado, Jeff spent two years as Senior Assistant Coach with Phoenix Swim Club (PSC) in Phoenix, AZ. Prior to PSC, he was the Head Age Group Coach of Williamsburg Aquatic Club (WAC) in Virginia, head Age Group Coach at Tiger Aquatics in Stockton, California and an Assistant Coach with Pacific University (UOP). He has been involved in AAU and USA swimming for the past 37 years, both as a competitor and a coach. Jeff is currently certified by American Swim Coaches Association at Level 4 (top 5-8% of the swimming coaches in the nation).
Throughout his coaching career, Jeff has produced several state champions, national top 16, sectional swimmers and national level swimmers. He was selected as a California Zone coach in the summer of 2000 and as a Virginia Zone coach in the summer of 2005. Coach Armstrong received a Bachelor of Science degree in Police Administration and a minor in Physical Education from Eastern Kentucky University.

Head Age Group Coach Jordan Kuper
Coach Jordan is from Cape Girardeau, Missouri….a town about 100 miles south of St. Louis, right on the Mississippi. He grew up swimming from ages 5-18. While in college, he began coaching an area summer league team which opened the door to work with a USA swimming club. Upon graduating, he started full-time coaching in 2009 with the Flyers Aquatic Swim Team in St. Louis. After gaining experience with a large club, Jordan took the head coaching job of his former team back in Cape Girardeau in 2011. Married in 2012, Jordan and his wife Emily spent three years together in Cape Girardeau until the call of the mountains could no longer be ignored. They moved to Denver in November 2014 and Jordan began working with the DU Hilltoppers. It was there where Jordan became Head Age Group Coach of TOPS, and Jordan and Emily welcomed their first child, Ivy, into their lives in October 2017. Seeking the family life in the mountains that Denver could not provide, Jordan decided to depart from TOPS and begin working with the Evergreen Swim Team in December 2018. Throughout this history, Jordan has coached all ages and abilities to various levels in the sport. He loves getting kids excited about swimming and always promotes a positive atmosphere for everyone within earshot.

Assistant Coach Jeff Cook
Jeff has been coaching since 2000, he started coaching at Thomas Jefferson High School. During his 4 years at TJ, he was the head coach for both the mens and woman’s teams. During his final year the men’s team captured a league championship earning him coach of the year honors. From there, Coach Cook moved to Arvada West High School were he is currently the head coach of the men’s team and math teacher. Since 2012, Coach Cook has worked with swim team at Lakewood Country Club, coaching all level of swimmers. Coach Cook, graduated from The University of Iowa with a Bacholars of Arts degree in Mathematics, and a minor in Secondary Education.

Assistant Coach Brian Pursley
Born into a swimming family, Brian has been involved in the sport for his entire life. As a breaststroker, Brian was a DII NCAA Champion at the Colorado School of Mines and an ACC finalist at North Carolina State University. Brian has coached at every level. As the head age group coach at Phoenix Swim Club in 2004, he led swimmers to 19 Team Records, 9 Arizona State Records, and 9 National Top 16 performances. Brian has spent most of his career as a collegiate assistant coach, primarily at Arizona State University and Auburn University, where he has had the privilege of coaching some of the nation’s premier swimming teams to 3 SEC Team Championships and 1 NCAA Team Championship, along with 10 Individual NCAA Championship swims, and 60 All-American performances. Brian was privileged to play a role in coaching 9 athletes who competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, winning 9 medals and setting 1 world record.Brian and his wife, Andrea, live in Conifer with their 3 much smaller swimmers; Eddie, Ruby, and Johnny.

Strength Coach Jen Allbritton
Jen, a former Division I collegiate volleyball player, understands the demands of being an athlete. With a degree in Kinesiology, she now sees movers one-on-one and in group classes. In 2018, she completed her 500-hour certification in a therapeutic yoga program with a strong emphasis on biomechanics, anatomy and the latest in theexercise science. “My goal is to support the team with dryland sessions that help prevent injuries and get the kids feeling stronger, more confident and efficient in the water.” Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions about what we are doing for dryland.
