Our next meet is at Meyers Pool on June 11 to 13th.  You can access the psych sheet here. Note that for this meet we go back to the regular schedule (12 and unders in the mornings; 13 and overs in the afternoons.)  Watch Coach Jeff's blog for warm up times.

The Western Zones meet is in San Jose this summer, from August 10 - 14.  If you think your swimmer will qualify, or just want to know more about the meet, you can access the Western Zones Information Packet here.

Are sports drinks the appropriate beverage of choice for swimmers?  Like your grandmother may have told you, "everything in moderation"; this adage definitely applies here. While sports drinks help athletes replenish electrolytes (such as sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium), they also pack a load of calories and sugar.  So, in the course of a long workout or for a meet day, swimmers should consider alternating between drinking water and their favorite sports beverage.  If you do an internet search on "are sports drinks healthy?" it will generate a long list of resources for you to consider before you buy that next case of Gatorade.

Coach Jeff presented awards at the annual bowling party on May 2.  The 2010 awards went to: Lexie Malazdrewicz and Ben Holland, for most valuable player; Annie Barnett and Declan Emmons, for most improved; and the 2010 Coach's Award went to Holly Fortik and Michael Feller. Congratulations!! Check out the updated Awards page and the Photo Gallery for some great pictures of the party.

Please note there is no practice on Monday, May 31st.  Have a safe and fun weekend!!

May the Force Be With You!
