HURRICANES PLACE 10th AT JOs!!
Congratulations to Coach Jeff and all our state swimmers for their phenomenal effort at the 14 & under State Meet in Fort Collins from March 5-7.  Our team placed 10th, up two places from last year. We have two state champions from this meet: Josie Pearson took first place in the 100 Fly, and Lexie Malazdrewicz took first in the 200IM.  Way to go, Hurricanes!!

SPEEDO SECTIONALS RECAP
Lexie Malazdrewicz and Brad Belz traveled to the Speedo sectionals meet in Federal Way, WA.  Lexie broke two team records (in the 1000 free and the 400IM) and placed 5th in the 200 Back.  Brad dropped 27.60 seconds in his 1650 Free, and had best times in the 200 and 500 free.

THE WORD FROM THE BOARD
Your board of directors has been working hard to make sure that our team documents are up-to-date.  We reviewed and updated the team bylaws and the parent code of conduct. The main changes include the financial aid section, eliminating the Jill Roberts Swim-a-thon, that we have not had in years, as well as providing college scholarships. We also updated items regarding our annual team meeting and the way that the BOD meetings are conducted. Please take the time to look over the revised documents, and email Kathy Lahr (president@evergreenswimteam.org) if you have any questions.  You can find the documents by clicking on the above links or going to the Board of Directors tab of the website.

SEEKING BOD CANDIDATES
As much fun as it is, each director serves only a two-year term, with three members rotating off each year.  We are looking for a Vice-President, Secretary, and At-Large member to join the board in September.  Please speak with Kathy Lahr or Coach Jeff if you want more information on how to help the team in this vital role.

DATES TO NOTE:
March 29 - April 4:  Team Break
Monday, April 5: Practice Resumes
Friday, April 9: No Practice due to HS Boys' Meet
Monday, April 12: Board Meeting 12-1:30pm
April 23-25: TOPS Meet at DU

TEAM PARTY - SAVE THE DATE: SUNDAY, MAY 2
There will be a team party to celebrate all our swimmers' accomplishments on Sunday, May 2nd, following our last home meet.  We will have awards and cake followed by two hours of Cosmic Bowling at the Brunswick Bowl on Kipling from 3-5pm. More info will be available as the date draws near.

SUMMER SESSION
Hard as it is to believe, summer session is just around the corner!  The fees you pay at registration go through May, and all those who will swim in June and July will be billed for monthly dues for these two months (as well as any meet entry fees).

Those who will be leaving the team for summer, whether to swim with summer league or to just take a break, need to pay a $50 fee to reserve their spot for next year. (This will go toward your registration fees in Sept.)  Practice for the 2010-2011 short course season will start in early September.

FLORIDA TRIP UPDATE
If we focus on summer, will it stop snowing? There are 24 members of the team who will travel to Sarasota, Florida, from June 23-30, to train at sea level in a 50 meter pool, and compete in the Sarasota Open.  The next deposit of $250 is due on May 3rd, and the final payment will be due June 10th.

TRAVEL MEET TO FORT COLLINS, JUNE 25-27
The team is scheduled to participate in the FAST Long Course Open at the EPIC Center in Fort Collins on the last weekend in June.  This is a great opportunity for those who are not traveling to Florida to attend an in-state travel meet, and swim in the pool where the short course state meet is held.  Coach Julia will be in charge at this meet, and we have reserved a block of rooms at the LaQuinta for the team.

PROGRAM EVALUATION
The BOD will be sending out a program evaluation in May, and urges everyone to participate.  The team has grown tremendously under Coach Jeff's direction in terms of size and ability over the past three years, and it is important to have your feedback as we evaluate various aspects of our swimming program.

COMMUNICATION: A VITAL LINK
There are many avenues we use to keep team members up-to-date about what is going on with the team.  Make sure you check Coach Jeff's Blog frequently; subscribe to "rainedout.com" for breaking news; read the team updates and newsletters that you receive via email; and check the website.  If a parent or swimmer has an issue, they should discuss it with Coach Jeff in a timely manner.  The coaches and the board of directors value your opinions and input, and want to make this team the best it can be.

HAVE A GREAT SPRING BREAK!!!

PREPARE TO BE BLOWN AWAY!
