NEW SEASON, NEW PRACTICE GROUPS
Practice starts on Monday, September 13th.
Coach Jeff has added another practice group to the line up - the team has grown and many of the younger swimmers have become more proficient, so we now have 5 practice groups, and we have added dryland training for Category 2. Click here to see which category your swimmer has been placed in; email Coach Jeff with any questions.
CHECK THE BLOG!
The team has various options for communicating with families, but Coach Jeff's Blog should be the first place you go for updates and information.
EMERGENCY TREATMENT FORMS
Be sure to send in an updated Emergency Treatment Form for your swimmer for the new season. If any other information has changed, stop in during registration week to update your forms, or email Lisa O'Hearn, treasurer, at email@example.com.
PAYMENT OPTIONS FOR 2010-2011
There are two payment options available to families this year:
Lump Sum Payment: Pay all the annual fees and monthly dues for Sept-May upfront, and receive one month of dues for free.
Monthly Payment Plan: Pay all the annual fees and September dues now, and be billed each month for dues.
HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMERS
If you swim for both the Hurricanes and your high school team, you get a discount of two months of dues. (The months you do not have to pay are April and May) This allows high school swimmers to attend Hurricane practices when they can during their high school season.
LONG COURSE WRAP UP
Congratulations to all the swimmers who competed in the Championship meets this summer - and thanks to your families for their dedication to your sport and the team! The Hurricanes finished in 13th place at the Long Course State Meet in Grand Junction.
WESTERN ZONES: We had seven swimmers qualify for Western Zones this year and five attended. Qualifying were Lindsay Morrow, Anna McDonald, Rene Gutberlet, Ben Holland, Kamryn Holland, Brad Belz, and Josie Pearson. They had some great swims - check out the results on the meet page.
SPEEDO SECTIONALS AND JUNIOR NATIONALS
Hats off to Lexie Malazdrewicz, who swam in both the Speedo Sectionals meet in Mt. Hood, OR, and the Junior Nationals in Irvine, CA. At Sectionals, Lexie placed second in the 200 backstroke with a 2:15.38, nearly two seconds faster than the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials qualifying time of 2:17. WOW!
At Junior Nationals, she took 20th place in the bonus finals in the 400 IM and seventh in the finals of the 200 backstroke.
We hope everyone had a great summer!
