THE WORD FROM THE BOARD
We’ve almost made it to the mid-point of our year, and with that being said, the BOD and Coach Jeff are extremely thankful for all of the support from our swim team families. In total, 52 kids swim with the Hurricanes - 9 in Category 1, 27 in Category 2, and 16 in Category 3. We continue to welcome several others to our free trial week, and hope to attract some of them to join our program. Financially, we are solid and expect to end our fiscal year with all of our bills paid and a slight profit in the bank.

WANTED: A FEW GOOD PEOPLE
Beginning in August, 3 board positions will be vacant. The BOD and Coach Jeff are actively seeking people now that are interested in serving on the Board and helping to continue move this team forward in a positive manner. Please speak with any Board member or Coach Jeff about the positions available. Or, better yet, come to a Board meeting (they're held the second Monday of each month here at the pool) to find out exactly what's involved with this important volunteer role.

FEATURED ARTICLE
Yes, sometimes some of the things we do are "hard"; I prefer the word "challenge". Part of what we do in practice is to challenge swimmers to extend themselves beyond what they thought they are capable of doing. Read more...

NEW PAGES ON THE WEBSITE
We've added a page for Coach Jeff's Swimmer of the Month program (Swimmer Awards) and for the Hurricanes List. This is a place where you can post swim team related items for sale, attempt to arrange ride-sharing, and the like. (Our own "craigs list")  Sending postings to Susan Kramer at swim@outsidelogic.com.  The first person to post something wins a prize!

SWIMMER OF THE MONTH
Congratulations to Josie Pearson and Harrison Olivieri for being December's swimmers of the month

TEAM SOCIAL Don't forget the team movie night - this Friday, 1/25, at Campgrounds.  Doors open at 6 and the movie starts at 7:00. See you there!

JANUARY AND FEBRUARY IS A BUSY TIME FOR HURRICANES.  The next couple of months mark some of the busiest times for our Club.

SUPERBOWL MEET UPDATE: The Superbowl meet, Feb 2 and 3,  is an annual tradition for our team and we hope to make it not only a positive experience for the swimmers, but also a financial success for the team. Based on the number of swimmers who have entered, we have decided to combine the morning and afternoon sessions - warm ups will be at 8:00am and the meet will start at 9:10am on Saturday and Sunday for all swimmers.   An email will be sent as soon as possible with the revised volunteer  assignments.

Championship Meets: Swimmers are working extremely hard at this time of year preparing for either Silver State, Senior State, or Age Group State meets in late February. These meets mark the end of the short course season. Coach Jeff is extremely pleased with the progress of all of our swimmers, and looks forward to announcing our qualifiers early next month.

Congratulations to Josie, Myriah, and Lexie on their selection to the Colorado All Star Team. The girls recently returned from a meet in Lawrence, KS over the MLK weekend.  All three girls had an awesome meet, placing in the top five in many events and breaking team records right and left!   Myriah won the 200 IM and broke a team record with a time of 2:17:02.  Josie broke two records, 50 fly (31:86) and 50 breast (36:95).  Lexie broke three team records - 50 breast (33:75); 100 back (1:02:66); and 100 breast (1:11:88). Now the people in Kansas know what a real Hurricane Force is! WOW!

PREPARE TO BE BLOWN AWAY!
