TRIATHLETES IN OUR MIDST
Congratulations to Parker and Wesley Juels, who are nationally-ranked Ironkids triathletes. Parker, 7, competed in the Junior triathlon: a 50 yard swim, 2 mile bike, and 500 yard run - and won the regionals in both Avon, CO, and Tucson, AZ. Wesley, age 10, competes in the 9-11 age group, with a 150 yard swim, 4 mile bike, and 1 mile run.  He qualified in Tucson by placing 5th, and finished 17th at the nationals. Parker is the United States' 7 year old Ironkids champion after winning the nationals on October 4th in Tucson.

SWIM FOR COACH JULIA A BIG SUCCESS
The event netted over $2000 in contributions toward the Julia Purrington Recovery Fund - this will really make a huge difference for Julia and her family.  It was great to see Julia at the pool! Thanks to everyone who participated or made a donation.

NEW ON THE WEBSITE - DIRECTIONS
Can't remember where that Meyers Pool is?  Just go to the "Directions to Meets" tab on the team website, and you will find an interactive map to every pool at which we are scheduled to swim. You can click on the red pointer and get directions to the pool from your home address.

NEXT HOME MEET: SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 15
Make sure you have marked your calendars for our next home meet on Sunday, Nov 15.  Please remember that the success of these home meets is dependent on the participation of all team families.  Even if your child is not swimming, or you will be away that weekend, you still need to fulfill your volunteer obligation to the team.

Warmups will be at 7:30am; all our swimmers need to be at the pool by 7:15am.  Volunteer assignments will be posted as soon as meet entries are complete - note that you must notify Coach Jeff by Nov 4 if your swimmer will not participate.

SAVE THESE DATES:
Team Photo - Nov 9, 4pm, wear new black shirts and team suits

November Board Meeting - Nov 9 from 12-1:30 at Tuscany Tavern. Please let Kathy Lahr know if you wish to attend or have anything you would like added to the agenda.

Team Holiday Party - December 13, 4-6:30pm at Wulf Rec.  Details will be provided next month.

REGISTER FOR TEXT ALERTS
We will be using a service called "rainedout.com" to communicate with team members; in case of last minute changes or cancellations, Coach Jeff will be able to send a text message to your cell phone. You need to go online to register for the service; it takes about two minutes to complete the process. Click for directions on how to sign up.  You will not be flooded with text messages; the idea is to use this only in the case of last minute changes.  Please take the time to register NOW if you haven't already...the snowy days of winter are coming, and you'll want to be on that list.

WE'LL GIVE YOU THE SHIRT OFF OUR BACK...
if you become a CSI official. (An official's uniform shirt, that is) Our team needs more people to train as officials for our swim meets.  We are so lucky to have parents of former swimmers who are willing to maintain their certification and give us a hand, but it is time for parents of our current swimmers to step up and fill those shoes.  Please consider participating in your child's sport in this vital role.

There will be a clinic for stroke and turn officials on Nov 11 at 5:30pm at Arapahoe High School. Talk to Kathy Lahr (303-570-8251) for more information on what it takes to become certified, or check out this link to CSI's certification page for officials.

GIVE A CHEER FOR:
Coach Jeff,  who was nominated by his peers for CSI 2009 Age-Group Coach of the Year.

Kathy Lahr, who received the CSI Officials' Rookie of the Year Award at the Swimposium on the first weekend of October in Glenwood Springs. Kathy gives a tremendous number of hours to the team by training and serving as an official, in addition to serving as the president of the Board of Directors.  Thanks a million, Kathy, for all you do!

REMINDER FROM THE TREASURER:
Invoices are due by the 15th of the month.  If at all possible, we would prefer you pay by check, as this saves the team a ton of money as the bank charges high fees for credit card use.

PREPARE TO BE BLOWN AWAY!
