Hurricane Alert - May 2009
Evergreen Hurricanes Newsletter June 26, 2009

We are now in the middle of summer swim season, and the team is going strong with 78 swimmers on the roster.  This weekend, we have swimmers at two different meets - the ACES Long Course Open at Lowry Pool, and the Sarasota Open in Sarasota, Florida.  We're expecting lots of success on both fronts, with many swimmers poised to achieve new JO times.

For the Zone 2 meet, July 10-12, the 14 and over swimmers will swim at DU, while the 13 and unders will swim at Carmody Pool in Lakewood. The meet has become so well-attended that the organizers decided it would be best to hold the sessions at two different locations.   Full information for the meets is available - or click on the meet your swimmer will attend Hurricane Alert - May 2009for the meet details: Zone 2 Open (14 and Over) or Zone 2 13 and under.

If you haven't already done so, and your swimmer may qualify for the State Meet in Fort Collins from July 23-26, make your hotel reservations by June 29th to be guaranteed the team rate of $85/night at the LaQuinta Inn. Call 970-493-7800 and tell them you are with the Evergreen Swim Team.  Note that warm-ups start at 6:30am on Thursday, so you will need to travel to Fort Collins on Wednesday evening.

July 13, 6:30-8:00pm at the Rec Center. All are welcome to attend.

The annual general meeting will be held during practice times at the pool on the Tuesday after the state meet, from 4:00-5:30pm.  At this time, each family will have the opportunity to cast a ballot for the incoming Board of Directors, and vote on the annual budget. Absentee ballots will be available.

The team will take a break from August 1 until we start Short Course season on September 14th.

2009/10 FEES :
We are very pleased to announce that we are able to maintain the same fees for 2009/10 as we have had  for the past two years.  Our accounting firm will be sending out invoices in August for next year's registration fees.  The payment options will be the same as last year,  which means that if you paid monthly, trimester, or in full, we will invoice you based on the same payment plan you chose for 2008/09. Payments will be due on or before September 4th.  If you want to change your payment option please contact Caryn Pearson before the end of July.

Lindsay Morrow broke the team record in the girls 11-12 50 Backstroke at the June North Jeff Co meet, finishing with a 33:85.  Jordyn Butler and Lexie Malazdrewicz smashed the team records, which they held, in the 800 freestyle.  WOW!

Three cheers for all our graduating seniors and best of luck in your future endeavors.  Special congratulations go out to Jeff Gentile and Kat O'Malley, our 2009 scholarship recipients.
