Short Course Successes for the Hurricanes
Coach Jeff has been working the swimmers hard and all those workouts are paying off.  All our swimmers have had a terrific short course season so far, with many of them achieving new heights. Here are a few of the highlights:

December a Record-Breaking Month
The team records board needs lots of updates after the CSI meet on Dec 6-8! Josie Pearson broke the 11-12 girls records for 50 Breast and 100 Fly; Lexie Malazdrewicz broke the 100, 500, 1000, and 1650 freestyle records.  The 11-12 girls relay team of Josie Pearson, Anna McDonald, Kamryn Holland, and Meghan Lahr broke a meet record.

Hurricanes' All Stars Heading to Kansas!!
Congrats to Katelyn Kenchel, Josie Pearson, and Lexie Malazdrewicz for making the 2010 All Star Team.  Ben Holland and Kamryn Holland are alternates for the team.

Brad Belz gets his first Sectionals Cut

Brad swam a 17:31:33 in the 1650 free at the CSI meet and got his first Sectionals cut.  Way to go, Brad!!

Lexie Swims at Junior Nationals!!

Here is Lexie getting ready to swim her 400IM at Junior Nationals in Columbus, Ohio.  She joined 60 athletes from 16 Colorado teams, competing in a field of about 1200 swimmers at the meet. Lexie had a fantastic meet, with four out of five personal bests, breaking her own team records in the 100 Back, 200 Back, and 200 Free.  What an awesome accomplishment!

MACS Meet January 9 & 10th
The team will start the new year with a splash at the MACS meet on the second weekend in January.  Check under the "Meets" tab for info and entries, and under "Directions to Meets" to find your way to Eaglecrest High School in Aurora (we've not had a meet at this pool before - it is a longer drive than we are used to -- make sure you plan at least an hour and fifteen minutes for travel time!)

Hotel for State Meet in Fort Collins, March 5-7
It is time to start thinking about hotel reservations for the state meet. Two options are the LaQuinta (970-493-7800) at $59/nt, and the Hilton Homewood Suites (970-225-2400) at $79/nt.

Holiday Practice Schedule
There will be no practice December 24, 25, 26, 31st and January 1, except on December 31 there will be practice from 6:00-8:00am for Categories 3 and 4.
